The José Plínio Baptista School of Cosmology (JPBCosmo) reviews every two years relevant topics in Theoretical Physics. Advanced courses and review seminars focus on the state of the art of the chosen topic. The school is aimed at graduate students.

The 4th edition of the José Plínio Baptista School of Cosmology is devoted to gravitational waves astronomy and astrophysics. The discovery of gravitational waves by LIGO has been one of the major scientific breakthroughs of the last decades and of the history of Physics. The principal authors of their discovery have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017.

José Plínio Baptista:

The school is named after professor José Plínio Baptista, who was active in the physics department of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) since 1974 until his death, in 2006.
He was one of the co-founders of the physics department, of the physics postgraduate program and of the Cosmology Group of UFES.
